Workers Compensation Board of Prince Edward Island

Workers Compensation Board Releases New Strategic Plan

January 30, 2019

The WCB is pleased to announce its 2019 – 2023 Strategic Plan.  The plan was built upon a foundation of research, consultation and partnership with staff and stakeholders to better meet the safety and compensation needs of Island workplaces.

“After a very thorough consultation process, we are pleased to present a plan that incorporates input from employers and workers in Prince Edward Island,” said Luanne Gallant, CEO for the Workers Compensation Board. “The planning process has been incredibly valuable and we appreciate all of the thoughtful feedback and discussions that we have had with our stakeholders, which defined our Plan, and set the course for our work over the next five years.”

The 2019-2023 Strategic Plan is based on the WCB’s mission, vision and values, and focuses on five strategic priorities:

  • Build a culture of safe and healthy workplaces
  • Deliver client-centered services and supports
  • Strengthen our system
  • Grow strategic partnerships
  • Strengthen our organization

Through the consultation process, the WCB received feedback from employers and workers on a variety of topics including PTSD and mental health needs, timely services, support to workers during recovery, assistance with return to work, and the promotion of safe workplaces.

“Our vision is a province where every workplace is safe, and injuries are eliminated,” Stuart Affleck, WCB Board Chair. “Our new strategic plan continues our commitment to working collaboratively with our stakeholders to create healthy and safe workplaces, and in assisting injured workers in their recovery and return to work. We want to ensure that every worker on Prince Edward Island comes home safely at the end of the day.”
