WCB Presents at West Prince Chamber of Commerce - November 2005

The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) was pleased to host the West Prince Chamber of Commerce’s latest mixer at the Community Complex in O’Leary. As part of an ongoing effort to communicate with Islanders about the workers compensation system, the Board plans to hold meetings right across Prince Edward Island during the next year.

Carol Anne Duffy, CEO of the Workers Compensation Board, expressed thanks to the West Prince Chamber of Commerce for a successful event and commented on the importance of the Board communicating with the public about the Workers Compensation mandate on Prince Edward Island. “We are interested in talking about the role and services provided by the Workers Compensation Board to workers and employers, and how we work with our stakeholders to achieve safe and healthy workplaces” commented Duffy.

Emmerson McMillan, President of the West Prince Chamber of Commerce, said “the West Prince Chamber of Commerce is pleased to have hosted the first Workers Compensation Board meeting outside of their regular meeting location. It is good to see such strong support from the membership out to hear the WCB presentation and that West Prince has a strong voice in business and the programs provided by the WCB.” For anyone interested in joining the West Prince Chamber of Commerce please call (902) 859-2235.

George MacDonald, Chair of Workers Compensation Board, said that “the Board looks forward to holding its meetings at various locations across the Island. It is important we get out to the communities and discuss the importance of the workers compensation system and work toward continually improving WCB services based on feedback from workers, employers and the general public.”
