WCB Launches Corporate Strategic Plan and Safety Matters @ Work Logo

The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) launched a new five-year Corporate Strategic Plan that identifies key challenges for the future and demonstrates the Board’s commitment to measurable results. WCB’s new logo is making its first public appearance on the Corporate Strategic Plan. The new logo accentuates the organization’s ongoing commitment to injury prevention in Prince Edward Island.

The new plan focuses on five strategic themes: sharing prevention responsibilities, improving worker outcomes, meeting service expectations, promoting strength within and securing the future. Carol Anne Duffy, CEO of the Workers Compensation Board, said “the Corporate Strategic Plan reinforces our commitment to accountability and provides insight into our priorities for the next five years. We will communicate specific goals and objectives for each year of the plan and will issue a report to our stakeholders on the results.”

Duffy explained that one key result area is injury prevention. She said “WCB recognizes that prevention is the most effective way to minimize the overall emotional, physical, and financial burden of workplace injuries. An effective injury prevention program depends on workers, employers and WCB each understanding their role in making Prince Edward Island a safe place to work.”

George MacDonald, Chair of the Workers Compensation Board, added that WCB’s new logo, Safety Matters @ Work, has evolved into the core message for all stakeholders of the WCB; this message is key to the success of the Corporate Strategic Plan. He said “whether we are working to prevent injury, working towards the safe return of an injured worker to work, or working to fairly distribute the costs of workplace injury across employer groups, ‘safety’ plays a role.”
