Public Presentation of Employer Survey Results - March 2004

The Workers Compensation Board commissioned Corporate Research Associates Inc. to evaluate the service performance of the WCB from the perspective of PEI registered employers. The 2003 Employers Survey asked employers for their feedback regarding the quality of service they received from WCB. In Charlottetown today, Corporate Research Associates presented the results of the study to employers, workers, WCB staff and the general public.

Carol Anne Duffy, Chief Executive Officer of the Workers Compensation Board, said “the 2003 Employers Survey provides important feedback from employers and will help establish a benchmark to permit tracking of organizational performance on key indicators.” The survey was conducted in October 2003 and was based on a representative sample of employers in which 500 random surveys were completed. The study provides results accurate within plus or minus 4.4 percentage points in 95 out of 100 samples.

Duffy explained that “the results of the survey assess the WCB favourably in most areas of service, however, the survey indicates areas for improvement such as factors relating to fairness, frequency of contact, young worker education, more useful website information and increased employer involvement in decision making.”

The Chair of Workers Compensation Board, Jim Lee, said “the feedback from employers will be used to target and improve WCB services and the Board will continue to measure stakeholder satisfaction levels to track progress.”
