Workers Compensation Board of Prince Edward Island

Work-Related Injury

The WCB protects employers and supports workers if a work-related injury or illness occurs, through its no-fault insurance system. This system provides financial and health care benefits to workers while protecting employers from lawsuits.

If a work-related injury or illness occurs, employers must:
  • Report the injury and make sure the worker gets immediate health care if needed.
  • Keep in contact with the worker and the WCB throughout the claim process.
  • Work with the WCB to help the worker stay at work or return to work in a safe and timely manner.
  • Provide suitable employment that is safe, within the worker’s physical or psychological capabilities, and that restores the worker’s pre-injury earnings whenever possible.
  • Work collaboratively with the worker and the WCB in the worker's recovery.
Post the In Case of Injury poster around your workplace so that everyone knows what to do when a work-related injury or illness occurs.
