National Day of Mourning
Today is the National Day of Mourning   April 28 is dedicated to remembering and honouring those who have lost their lives, suffered injury or illness on the job, or experienced a work-related tragedy. It’s also a day to reflect on the importance of creating safer workplaces for everyone.   The WCB stands with families, friends, and colleagues who are grieving the loss of loved ones due to work-related tragedies. Island workplaces, employees and community members are encouraged to observe the National Day of Mourning by taking a moment of silence today at 11:00 a.m., or by attending a National Day of Mourning event.   This evening, a memorial ceremony for Island families who have lost a loved one due to a workplace tragedy will be held at St. Paul’s Hall, 101 Prince St., Charlottetown, at 7:00 p.m. The ceremony is hosted by the PEI Federation of Labour. All are welcome to attend.     Read the news release.    More information on workplace fatality data in Prince Edward Island.
