OHS Act & Regulations

The WCB is responsible for administering workplace safety legislation on Prince Edward Island. This legislation is the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.

The OHS Act and its Regulations describe the minimum standard of occupational health and safety on PEI and the general safety principles for Island workplaces.

The WCB also has a role in enforcing the Smoke - Free Places Act and Regulations, and the Youth Employment Act.

2012 WCB Annual Report

The WCB is pleased to announce the release of our 2012 Annual Report. The report describes the results ofour collaborative efforts with our stakeholders to protect Island workers and employers and promote workplace safety. The report highlights will be presented at the WCB Annual Public Meeting and we invite all stakeholders and members of the public to attend. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, from 10am - 12pm at the Rodd Charlottetown Hotel (75 Kent Street in Charlottetown). In addition to the presentation of the report, the meeting is an opportunity to come together to discuss how we can enhance the return to work culture on PEI and make safety a priority in every Island workplace. Provide your feedback on WCB policies

The Workers Compensation Board has approved in principle changes to the policies, Access to Information - Worker Claim Files (POL-04) and Internal Reconsideration (POL-48). We invite you to provide feedback on these draft policies by July 8, 2013 in the Policy Consultation section of our website.
