Workers Compensation Board of Prince Edward Island

WCB encourages workplace inclusion for people of all abilities

December 02, 2014

December 3, 2014 marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities to build global awareness, understanding and support for those affected by disability issues. One of the central themes this year is the promotion of supportive work environments. The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) encourages Islanders to take this day to consider ways to improve inclusion in the workplace for people of all abilities.

Approximately 1700 new workplace injuries occur every year on Prince Edward Island. Inclusive work environments help those affected by workplace injury to remain active, productive and connected to the workplace.

“Work is an important part of life that contributes to overall well-being. This is especially true when recovering from an injury or illness that has an impact on functional abilities,” said WCB Chair Nancy Guptill. “In collaboration with workers, employers and healthcare providers, the WCB helps people to continue meaningful employment while they recover by focusing on ability and workplace inclusion.”
