Workers Compensation Board of Prince Edward Island

Policy & Legislation

The foundation of the Island’s workplace safety and compensation system consists of its laws, regulations and policies.

In PEI, most of the WCB’s work involves two pieces of legislation, the Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and their regulations.

WCB policies set the decision-making framework for determining coverage, benefits and safety standards under these Acts.

Policy development is an ongoing process of review and stakeholder consultation to ensure that WCB policies appropriately reflect and balance the needs of Island workers and employers.

We also encourage feedback on our legislation to ensure the laws governing our workplace safety and compensation system remain fair and relevant.
